This is a compliment in the form of a request. As the greatest defenders of unjustly forgotten singers, please post some Doris Drew. I heard her version of "I Only Have Eyes for You" on the Jonathan Channel and immediately began a fruitless search for her recordings (actually, I think it should be singular not plural) in your preferred m4a format. In any case, and without any implied pressure, I am desperately counting on you to come through.
You’re in luck! I happen to have “Delightful Doris Drew” in MP3. As far as I know, this is her only release - and it has "I Only Have Eyes for You:”Just go here: http://ezfile.ch/v6qr1hxewEnjoy!
Bless you. It's a great album, worthy of full exposure on your blog. Now just magic up some Susan Barrett. Her first Capitol album, "Mixed Emotions," seems to be available again in Japan. By the way, thanks for all the great girl group postings. I've always believed that the Dinning Sisters were truer descendants from the Boswell Sisters than the Andrew Sisters. The album you posted had marvelous versions of "Once in a While" and "The Way You Look Tonight."
Oh - I'm going to agree - I've been trying to get my hands on Susan Barrett's Mixed Emotions for ages. Her 67 album for RCA is pretty easy to get but the two Capitol LPs from the late 50's are hard to come by . . . such a fantastic voice though.
